Today I wanted to share with you all a fun holiday makeup tutorial inspired by this year's holiday Barbie doll. I LOVE Barbies, I have a small collection of them and I would gladly collect more if I had the space for them LOL. But for now I am very content with just looking at these beauties in my Barbie Collector catalog!
The 2013 Holiday Barbie has got some fun festive makeup on her and I wanted to create my own spin on it for you guys! My version of her makeup is something you could wear to your holiday parties this December or whenever you want! I'd totally wear this out to go shopping because YOLO. Yep I just said that.
Here's a list of products I used:
-Sigma E55 Brush
-MAC 224 Brush(or a Sigma E40 Brush)
-Sigma E65 Brush
-Sigma E30 Brush
-A Thin Angled Brush(or a Sigma E20 Brush)
-Sigma E05 Brush
-Sigma E60 Brush
-NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk
-MAC White Frost Eyeshadow
-MAC Wedge Eyeshadow
-MAC Mystery Eyeshadow
-MAC Handwritten Eyeshadow
-MAC Electra Eyeshadow
-MAC Mylar Eyeshadow
-MAC Blacktrack Fluidline
-Tarina Tarantino Sparklicity Pure Sparkle Powder(you can use whatever cosmetic grade glitter you'd like)
-MAC Red Enriched Cremestick Liner
-MAC Ruby Woo Lipstick
Okay, let's get started!
First I applied NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk on my lids and blended it upwards towards my crease. Make sure you blend this stuff out well because it has a tendency to crease, even if you applied eyeshadow primer beforehand.
Using a Sigma E55 shading brush, I packed on MAC White Frost eyeshadow to my lids. Then using my MAC 224 fluffy blending brush, I took a bit of MAC Wedge and applied it just above my crease. Doing this will help warm up the whole eye look.
Using the same MAC 224 brush I applied MAC Mystery eyeshadow to the crease, concentrating the color on the outer corner and blending inward. Don't worry about losing the vibrancy of the white eyeshadow on the lid, you can pack more on after all the crease work is done.
Next I used a Sigma E65 angled brush and MAC Handwritten eyeshadow to give more depth to my crease. Draw a line on your eyeball socket line(I'm not too sure how to explain that better LOL). Then blend that harsh line using a Sigma E30 pencil brush.
Now using a clean E30 pencil brush(just wipe it off, it'll be fine I promise) I took MAC Electra and placed it generously on my lower lash line.
Now using a thin angled brush I used MAC Handwritten eyeshadow again and applied it as close to my lower lashes as I could get.
I used MAC Blacktrack fluidline and a Sigma E05 eyeliner brush to draw a bit of a cat eye liner on my upper lash line. I also curled my lashes and applied black mascara(Benefit They're Real mascara - not pictured). I just want to let you all know right now that a bit of 'cat eye' is my usual go to look because my eyes are naturally a bit droopy. So you'll be seeing my liner like this a ton!
This is the fun part! GLITTER! Depending on the type of cosmetic glitter you use, you'll have to figure out if it applies well with or without some sort of adhesive. Fortunately for me the glitter I used is super finely milled, it's more like a powder and it didn't need anything to help it "stick" on my lids. I used a Sigma E60 large shader brush to pack the glitter on my lids. The pictures below definitely DO NOT do this glitter justice! I'm sorry about that guys! One day I'll have a super fancy camera to show the best details to ya!
Then using the liner I filled in my lips with it. Doing this will help the lip color stick around longer.
And lastly I applied MAC Ruby Woo lipstick carefully to my lips. I LOVE this color, it's a classic!
OH! I forgot to mention, I didn't use blush for this look. But I did use NARS Laguna bronzer on the apples of my cheeks to warm up my skin a bit.
Here's the finished look! Like my cheesy pink Santa hat? I love it lol.
What do you all think? Is this look something you might want to try replicating? I hope you like it! Please leave me your feedback in the comments below. And as always THANK YOU SO MUCH for taking the time out of your day to read my little blog, I really appreciate it! Love you!
