Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy turkey day everyone! I just wanted to write a quick post to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. What's your favorite part of this holiday? How are you all celebrating? I LOVE the Macy's parade, I look forward to it every year! I was super fortunate to see it in person two years ago. Love it!

I never used to think much about this holiday in the past but the last month I have really been looking forward to it this year. I've been trying to be more mindful of what I am grateful for everyday. To help me with this, I've started keeping a gratitude journal and throughout the day I just write down things that I am grateful for. For example the first thing I write down every day is that I am grateful for waking up. Another one I am usually writing down lately is that I am grateful for being able to workout because my body is well and strong enough to do so. And so on. Then at night I read over that list before I go to bed and write down anything else I can think of. You can also just think about what you had to be grateful for that day and write it all down before you go to bed then read your list if that's more convenient for you. For me it's easier to write things down as they happen. Doing this has really helped me change my attitude about my life, especially right now as I'm going through some really tough times. I really REALLY recommend keeping a gratitude journal guys! Try it, even if only for a week and see how it affects you.

I'm super grateful for finding the strength inside myself to finally start blogging! And even more grateful for you all for reading this! YOU ARE AMAZING! I hope you all have an awesome Thanksgiving!

Polish Pick Of The Week

Hey everyone! How was your weekend? On Sunday my mom and I started to take down our Christmas decorations from our attic. I'm so excited! We put up our main tree in the living room(I'm waiting to decorate it until Thanksgiving day) and my mom put up a little tree in our kitchen. I also put up a smaller white tree(that I bought a few weeks ago) in my room that needs lots of decorations! I'll write a post on all our Christmas trees soon.

Today I wanted to share with you all my nail polish picks for this week. I wanted to post this yesterday but I got carried away with some cleaning in my room(getting rid of lots of stuff! It feels good).

This is my mani for this wonderful week of Thanksgiving!

It's nothing super fancy but I love it. Sorry about the lighting guys! It's dark outside but I didn't want to wait until tomorrow to post this.

See my Christmas tree in the background? Hehe.

Here's what I used:

OPI - Tickle My France-y
OPI - Chocolate Moose (accent nail)
ORLY - Hair Band (accent nail)
Essie Matte About You Top Coat

These colors are lovely on their own but the matte top coat is kind of a nice unexpected touch and I love it!

What do you think? How do you do your nails for Thanksgiving? I want to start doing a "Poilsh Pick" post maybe every Monday! Leave me feedback in the comments below pretty please!

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Rose Tyler Inspired Makeup

TODAY IS THE BIG DAY FELLOW WHOVIANS! The 50th Anniversary airs in just a few hours, I am SO ready!

I thought since I haven't posted anything beauty related on here yet I'd do a simple Rose Tyler inspired makeup look in honor of the big day!

Rose's look is very neutral, sometimes she looks as if she's not wearing makeup at all. Her eyes are very soft, light color on her cheeks, and her lips are usually defined. Those lips! Lucky gal!

*Before I get started, I wanted to say that I think what's been holding me back from doing beauty posts a bit is not having the equipment(camera, etc.) right now to give you all the best quality of my work. But I'm going to do the very best I can with what I do have. I'm grateful I can even do that much!

These are the brushes I used for this look for reference.

First I'm going to use MAC Grain all over the eye lid and up to the browbone with a Sigma E55 brush. And although it is hard to make out in this picture, I also used MAC All That Glitters in the middle of the eyelid.

Next using a Sigma E25 brush, blend MAC Soft Brown on the crease using windsheild wiper motions.

On the lower lash line, apply MAC Espresso using a thin angled brush(the one I use is by Crown Brushes). Apply this as close to your lower lashes as you can.

Using the same thin angled brush, use MAC Carbon to line your upper lash line. This is going to be your eyeliner. Applying it this way makes the makeup look soft. Take what ever black shadow is left on the brush and stamp it on the outer corner of your lower lash line as well.

Take a pencil brush like a Sigma E30 and a bit of MAC Vapour and pop that on the inner corner of your eyes, as well as right under your brows. This will really brighten your eyes. Sorry guys, I couldn't get a clear picture of how it looks on my eyes.

Now curl those lashes and apply some black mascara! I used Benefit's They're Real mascara. Eyes are done now!

I lined my lips with MAC Subculture lip liner and applied MAC Freckletone lipstick on top. The slightly darker lip liner with a lighter lip color gives an illusion of slightly fuller lips. I also applied NARS Lustre blush on the apples of my cheeks. Simple.

Here's the finished look!

I hope you enjoyed my first ever makeup tutorial! Like I said, quality isn't the greatest but I think I can still get my point across for now lol.

I'd love your feedback, and any suggestions for future tutorials! Please leave them in the comments below :)

Fellow Whovians! Enjoy the gloriousness that is the 50th Anniversary today! We'll be watching it together in spirit! Actually I think I will live tweet it! If any of you are on Twitter, give me a follow @CarpeDiemi3aby and we'll gush about it together!

Have an awesome day everyone and thank you SO SO much for reading this.

Just Checking In...

Hey everyone! Happy Friday! How has everyone's week been so far?

I just wanted to check in and say hello, I don't have a particular subject for this post but I feel the need to write at the moment. It's rainy and a little gloomy here on Long Island today and posting always makes me feel great!

*First off I wanted say how incredibly grateful I am that my favorite pumpkin chocolate chip cookie recipe is getting repinned a bunch on Pinterest! That is so amazing! I really hope some of you try it out and let me know what you think. I feels so great to know that I could have contributed to even one little moment of happiness or content in your day; even if it was just an "ooh! that looks good, I'd like to try that!", that half of second in your mind was at ease and it feels nice to know it was because of what I'm putting out there. Which is why I started this blog! I hope what I just said made sense. I makes sense in my mind lol.

Anyone have any fun plans this weekend? Last night I was fortunate enough to go to Medieval Times in New Jersey with my best friend. She won tickets on Facebook and asked me to go with her. She's my very best good friend(100 points if you know that quote; by the way another thing about me-I quote movies a lot). Heck yeah! We had such a great time, the food was yummy and I got a flower from our knight(who was super cute by the way hehe). I think it's like some sort of requirement for good looking dudes to work there or something(actually probably not a requirement, I just think that's what ends up happening lol). I posted a couple of pictures of my night on Instagram but I want to share them here as well.

It might not look appetizing but it was delicious I swear! Tomato bisque soup, garlic bread, half of roast chicken, a rib, and half of an herbed roasted potato. I couldn't wait to dig in before I took the picture haha sorry! You also get soda(I opted for water), coffee and dessert. There is a vegetarian meal option as well.

There are 6 sections in the arena that each have a knight, we were in the red and yellow section. This is our red and yellow knight after a game he won, he was looking for a lovely maiden to give a flower to...

AWWW YEAH! Who's the fairest one of all now?? Hehehe. I was so excited when he threw it to me!

And here my knight is getting ready for jousting. Such a fun time! If you've never been to Medieval Times you've got to go at least once in your life! There are a few different locations in the country.

Oh! And completely unrelated...I totally almost forgot that tomorrow is the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary special on BBC so I'm really excited for that because 10 and Rose are coming back and they are my favorite! Are any of you guys Whovians? Are you going to have a watching party? I need some Who friends! I'll be watching alone. There's a bar in Brooklyn that has a TARDIS in it that I've always wanted to go to and I think they're having a watching party. I'm sure it's going to be nuts there tomorrow!

So I'm kind of stumped as to what my next post should be about. I know I've got this blog labeled as a beauty blog and I haven't made a beauty post yet! I'm just not sure what I should do first! I'm up for anything, I just need some suggestions. I can do some sort of tutorial, or how to use a certain product, or what my favorite whatevers are. Maybe since I just talked about Doctor Who, I can post a Rose inspired makeup look? What do you think? I'd really love your feedback!

I hope you guys enjoy your Friday, I'm off now to get some cleaning done(as in getting rid of things that no longer serve me), pick up some organization stuff from somewhere(maybe Target, but there is a Container Store about a half hour away that I've always wanted to check out), and clean some more!

Take care everyone! I love you, thank you so much for reading this.

My Favorite Pumpkin Chocolate Chip "Cookie" Recipe

*I just want to take a second and note that I am NOOOOOT any kind of professional baker or cook, I just love playing in the kitchen. That being said I wanted to let you all know that I don't have or use any fancy baking equipment, I just use what I've got! And hey it gets the job done so it's all good, right?

This morning I decided to bake my favorite pumpkin chocolate chip "cookies". I always make a batch of these at least once a year around this time and I thought what better time to do it than right now so I can share the recipe with you all!

Now when I say "cookies" it's because these delicious monsters are not the texture of a normal cookie, they come out more cake-like, kind of like a muffin top but not as crumbly. Nonetheless they are so yummy and everyone who tries them loves them! I brought them to our big family Thanksgiving a couple of years ago and they were a hit. The recipe is really simple too, I got it from a friend many years ago but I've tweaked it to how I like it.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies | yields 24 cookies

-1 cup canned pumpkin
-1 cup of white sugar
-1/2 cup of vegetable oil (I didn't have any on hand today so I used canola and it was fine, either will work)
-1 egg
-2 cups flour
-1 teaspoon baking soda
-2 teaspoons baking powder
-1/2 teaspoon salt
-2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
-1/2 teaspoon ground clove
-1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
-1 teaspoon vanilla extract
-2 cups milk chocolate chips (more or less if you want, but use at least a cup!)

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

In a large mixing bowl mix together the pumpkin, sugar, oil, and egg until it looks like this gross baby food...

In a medium mixing bowl mix together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg until combined.

Next add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until you get this thick cakey consistency. I just mixed with a spoon, no electric mixer or anything.

Now that it's all combined, fold in the vanilla extract and the chocolate chips until the chocolate chips are incorporated evenly.

Here comes the fun part(mwahahahaha). Grab a baking sheet or two(I just made 2 batches using one baking sheet). No need to grease the sheet! Now glob those little monsters onto the baking sheet spacing them out evenly. Mine are like REALLY heaping tablespoons haha. I was able to get 12 in each batch. TRY to make your globs as even as you can, obviously I can't take my own advice.

First batch:
Second batch:

Pop 'em in your oven for 16-18 minutes but check them at 16 minutes with the toothpick method(stick a toothpick in a cookie and see if comes out clean). Baking time will depend on how big your monster globs are. Again, these cookies are not meant to be crispy, they're going to come out like little cakey muffin tops!

You can let them cool for 5 minutes after you take them out of the oven and then transfer them to a cooling rack, they cool down pretty quickly.

Here's the end result! Yum!

I hope you'll try out this recipe! If you do, please let me know what you think, and if you have any suggestions or make any changes to it let me know, I'm so open to your feedback!

Thank you SO much for taking the time to read this, I really appreciate you stopping by. Stay tuned for more fun stuff to come!

Happy Birthday, Mickey Mouse!

Hello and happy Monday everyone! How was your weekend? Mine was great; I had a job interview yesterday for a seasonal position at a really popular home decor store, I think it went well!

Today is Mickey Mouse's 85th birthday, isn't that kind of crazy to think about? This amazing character who brings so much joy to many people's lives(including mine BIG TIME) is EIGHTY FIVE years old. That's really incredible. Me being a real live Disney Princess and all(hehe) you bet I'll be celebrating today by watching some Mickey-centric movies!

I love to collect Disney merchandise and I'd like to share a couple of my favorite Mickey things with you:

This is a statue of Mickey Mouse from the animated short called "Runaway Brain", isn't he freaky? I love him. I think "Runaway Brain" may be on YouTube, definitely check it out if you've never seen it! It's one of my favorite Mickey shorts.

I bought this little plaque statue from Hallmark last week, actually I think it might have been a day or two before I started this blog! As soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it. This saying really resonates with me, especially lately. Believe in yourself, people! You are all so amazing and every single one of you has a purpose here on this earth. Great things are meant to happen for everyone!

So are any of you out there big Disney fans and collectors? What are some of your favorite items that you own? I'd love to hear about them in the comments below!

Stay tuned to my blog, I've got a yummy holiday recipe or two that I want to share with you all in the coming days.

Thank you for taking the time to read my posts, I love you!

How I got 10 Bath & Body Works Hand Soaps For $10 - My 2013 Holiday Picks!

That got your attention, huh? ;)

Today was a lucky day for me for sure! My best friend and I stopped at Bath & Body Works to take advantage of their 5 soaps for $15 promotion and to use a $10 off a $30 coupon. We do this all the time whenever this promotion and coupon comes along; we each pick out five soaps(I'll show you guys our picks in a little bit!) and we'll pay for them together, that saves us $5 each so we usually end up paying $10 each for 5 soaps. Well today the Bath & Body Works we went to was holding a survey that if you participated in would get you a $5 giftcard! So we totally did the survey and it was actually really fun! The woman conducting the survey had these boards that had pictures of potential packaging for next year's Autumn collection. She asked us questions about how we felt about the packaging and what we liked and didn't like about it. It was really cool! I loved giving feedback about my favorite B&BW products! So after we finished the survey we checked out and we were able to use our $5 giftcards together. With the coupon and giftcards we only needed to pay $5 each! How neat is that? I'm so super grateful that it worked out like that!

Now on to our hand soap picks! I'm a fiend for holiday hand soaps.
These soaps are my bestie's picks:
- Tis The Season(she got 2, they're like crack)
- Lemon Meringue Cheer
- Fresh Balsam
- Winter Cranberry

My picks:
- Lemon Meringue Cheer; smells like a lemon pastry, so yummy! I love lemon scents.
- Winter Candy Apple; this is my mom's favorite holiday soap so I picked this up for our kitchen.
- Fresh Balsam; OMG you guys this smells incredible, it's Christmas tree in liquid form but it's not super strong like the Fresh Balsam candle or wallflower. It won't make you gag I promise.
- Tis The Season; I can't quite explain this scent, it's your typical Christmas scent, a little spicy, a little cinnamony. It's quite lovely.
- Vanilla Buttercream; this soap isn't a holiday scent but I've always wanted it! It just smells like delicious vanilla frosting.

I can't wait to use these! Check out for coupons, grab a friend and go shopping! Saving a bit of money here and there is always great.

Have any of you had luck with using coupons/taking advantage of promotions lately? Which stores or websites? Also what are your B&BW holiday hand soap picks this year? Let me know in the comments below!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, I'll talk to you all soon!

Welcome To My Little Niche!

Hello my new beautiful friends! Wow I can not believe I'm really doing this. This really is a LOOOOOONG time coming. And when I mean a long time I mean YEARS. Not gonna lie, I'm pretty nervous about starting a blog and possibly making videos but I've been wanting to do it forever and I'm finally ready to put myself out there! Where do I even start? Welcome to my little blog here in the big internet world, here you'll find a mish mash of posts about all kinds of things that I really love and am passionate about including lots of beauty/makeup, crafts/DIY, DISNEY!(I am the biggest Disney nerd you will ever meet probably.), some fashion, possibly a bit of home decor stuff, and just posts about my life in general.

I suppose I should talk a little bit about myself. My name is Michelle but I go by Momo(you can call me whichever you'd like!). I live on Long Island, NY. I am a licensed esthetician but I am not currently working in the field because I don't feel that it is particularly my full calling though I'm more than happy to help anyone with skincare concerns! I am a self taught makeup artist which led me to pursue an esthetics course because I just love learning everything having to do with the beauty industry and also I thought having a license under my belt wouldn't hurt. I'm a big cosmetics product junkie, I love researching new fun products that are out on the market. I'm a big kid at heart and I truly believe that I am a real life Disney Princess. I dare any one of you to try to beat me in a game of Disney Scene It...just try ;) I also know Walt Disney World like the back of my hand...okay not ALL of Disney World but the parks at least; maps are for amateurs ;p

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog, I am truly grateful! Please stick around for more fun stuff to come!
