NYX Butter Gloss Swatches & Review, and A Bright Blue Eyeliner Look

Hello people of the internet! Miss me? I hope not! It's been a long time since my last post, I'm not too thrilled about that but life happens.

Today I have a few NYX Butter Glosses to show you guys as well as a fun electric blue liquid liner look that I came up with on the fly.

I want to start off by saying that I usually despise lip gloss. It kind of grosses me out with how heavy and thick it can feel, and the worst thing is when your hair gets stuck to it if the wind catches you. I only own a handful of glosses that I rarely use(they were either gifts or limited edition items) and I actually just chucked a whole bunch because they were sitting in my collection for several years and got extra icky lol. That being said, I personally do not like spending a ton of money on lipgloss. I came across a bunch of amazing reviews of these NYX Butter Glosses and became intrigued. Super affordable? Heck yes so I decided to bite the bullet and shell out a whole 5 bucks to try a tube. The first shade I tried was Maple Blondie. I applied it immediately after buying it and was beyond pleasantly surprised! These glosses literally feel like butter on my lips; very light and not obnoxiously sticky! The shades they offer are gorgeous. So a couple of days after I bought my first tube I scurried my butt over Ulta and picked up 4 more tubes. At $5 each you really can't go wrong...AND Ulta was offering buy 1 get 1 50% off on NYX products(which they do often) so for less than $20 I felt like I hit the jackpot lol. On to the swatches! I need to note that you can build up the color on these, also these pics don't do the colors 100% justice.

Maple Blondie

Cupcake

Angel Food Cake(my favorite shade)

Strawberry Parfait

Creme Brulée

Non flash and flash swatches from left to right: Maple Blondie, Cupcake, Angel Food Cake, Strawberry Parfait, and Creme Brulee

When I purchased my Butter Glosses I also picked up two NYX liquid liners; Studio Liquid Liner in Extreme Blue and Liquid Crystal Liner in Crystal Silk.

I came up with a fun but simple look using my new liners...

I need to dye my roots asap LOL

This look was very simple to do. I primed my lids with Urban Decay Primer Potion and blended MAC Saddle eyeshadow in my crease. I applied a thick line of the NYX extreme blue liner to my upper lash line, then drew a very thin line of L'Oreal Carbon black liquid liner close to my lashes. For my lower lash line, I first applied Urban Decay Half Baked eyeshadow, then topped it with NYX Crystal Silk glitter liner just in the inner corners. I finished the eyes with my favorite Benefit They're Real mascara and that's it! Oh and I'm wearing Angel Food Cake Butter Gloss on my lips :)

What are your thoughts on the NYX Butter Glosses? I plan on getting many more but I'm holding out until IMATS NYC!

Speaking of IMATS, are any of you going? I'm going for the first time ever and I'm going on Pro night April 11th. I'm super excited! Hopefully I'll have another post up here before that but if not, expect an IMATS post here in a couple of weeks!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this! Have a lovely week!

CoverGirl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balm Review And Swatches

Happy Sunday! I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. Here on Long Island we got more snow yesterday. I'm so done with it already! Though I don't particularly mind shoveling because it's a great workout and an excuse to not do a "real" workout for the day hehe. There has just been SO much snow that there is no room to put more snow when shoveling! That's my only gripe really. But it's supposed to be almost 50 degrees by the end of this week so I'm excited about that!

You know you're getting old when you start talking about the weather.

Okay moving on.

Today I'm reviewing a few of the CoverGirl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balms. I got these on Valentine's Day evening from Harmon inside of Bed Bath and Beyond. I was able to use BB&B coupons on these so that was a huge win! I know these are available at Ulta, and I'm sure most other drug stores. Ulta lists these as $8.99 each, but at Harmon they were $6.79 each.

The colors I got are Ballet Twist, Watermelon Twist, and Cocoa Twist.

Ballet Twist, Watermelon Twist, Cocoa Twist

These are a neat lip product. They apply sheer, but they've got good pigment(the color is buildable the more you put on) and they're glossy without being sticky. I don't own a lot of lip gloss because I hate the sticky, thick feeling it has! These are very lightweight on the lips, it feels as almost I'm not wearing anything. They apply like a lip balm but I wouldn't say they're as moisturizing as a lip balm. I would still wear a normal lip balm under these.

-Ballet Twist is a really light shimmery warmish pink. This shade will go well with both natural and smokey eye makeup. But it is really really REEEEALLY light, might not be some people's cup of tea.

-Watermelon Twist is just that...watermelon pink. This shade is a great bright pink without being too "in your face" and super bold. This will be a great color to wear come spring time! Or whenever...lol.

-Cocoa Twist is a lovely "my lips but better" nude slightly mauveish shade. A perfect color for everyday wear!

So all in all I really like this lip product! I definitely want to try to get my hands on a couple of more shades, perhaps a red and coral shade. We'll see!

Have any of you tried these lippies? Thoughts? Are you loving any particular fun lip products from the drugstore lately? Please share with me in the comments below!

Thank you so much for reading! I truly appreciate it :)

Shine on!

Valentines Day Makeup Tutorial - Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

Hey everyone! I hope everyone is doing well. I'm excited to be posting today, the last few weeks have been a bit of a roller coaster for me personally but I'm doing really well regardless. I've missed sharing stuff with you guys!

Today's post is a simple makeup look that would be lovely to wear on Valentines Day. I used the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette, it's perfect for this look since that palette has got a pink/rose theme going for it. I am OBSESSED with the Naked 3, I use it everyday and I highly recommend it!

Still working on getting better quality photos on here for you guys, my Iphone is NOT doing this makeup justice. Sorry!

Products used for this look:
-MAC 224 Fluffy Blending Brush(Sigma E40 is an alternate)
-Sigma E55 Shading Brush
-Sigma E25 Blending Brush
-Thin Angled Brush(Sigma E65 is an alternate)
-Sigma E30 Pencil Brush

To start off, I applied NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk to my lids and blended it out evenly with my finger. This will make the pink eyeshadow a bit more vibrant on the lid.

Using a fluffy blending brush, I applied the shadow Limit as a transition color in the crease area and blended up just under my brows.

Next I applied the shadow Burnout on to the inner half of my lid with an E55 shader brush...

Then applied the color Buzz on the outer half of the lid with the same E55 shader brush. Again sorry about the quality of these photos. I promise it looks great in real life! Ahhh c'est la vie.

Next I applied the shadow Factory to my crease with an E25 blending brush, blending that well inward.

I wanted to add more depth in the crease so I applied the shadow Darkside to the socket of my crease with a thin angled brush, then blended that line well with an E30 pencil brush.

Using the same thin angled brush as before(wiped the dark shadow off), I applied the shadow Buzz to my lower lashline, then used to shadow Blackheart and the same brush to stamp a bit on to the outer third of the lower lashline.

I used the shadow Strange as a brow highlight and to highlight the inner corners of the eyes. I love this shadow for this purpose, I hope UD decides to sell it individually one day, because I'll be upset when I use it all up!

That's it for eyeshadow, next I applied my favorite liquid liner(L'Oreal Carbon Black) and mascara(Benefit They're Real). I like winging out my liner, it's my signature look, but you don't have to if you don't want to! False lashes would work really great with this look, so if you feel you need them then use them!

I used NARS Laguna for my bronzer and Orgasm(lol I will always laugh about this product name) as blush. This is a great duo product if you want to try out these shades, so worth the money! Definitely my favorite bronzer and blush ever. If I only had to use one bronzer and one blush for every makeup look for the rest of my life, these two would be it!

Time for lips! I used MAC Lovelorn lipstick(my first EVER MAC lipstick I ever got back in 2004...yes this is the SAME lipstick, it's 10 years old and still going strong. It hasn't gone bad and doesn't smell rancid. It's magic though I don't recommend holding on to makeup for 10 years. I will always save it though since it's my first ever MAC product.) I used Beet lip liner just on the outer corners of my lips and then blended it a bit inward. Doing this gives an effect of plumper lips!

And that's it! Here's the finished look...

I tried my best to capture the awesomeness with natural light but it didn't quite work out.

If you guys have the Naked 3 palette, please give this look a try and let me know how you like it! And if you're celebrating Valentines Day, I hope it's fabulous! I'm celebrating by myself and having a Disney movie marathon.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, I am truly grateful! Make sure to follow me on Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest for more updates! I love you all, let's connect and be friends and just be awesome together!

Shine your light!

Ulta Haul/Product Reviews January 2014

Hey everyone! So remember that one time like two posts ago when I said I wanted to post at least three times a week? Most definitely broke that resolution already. I'm sorry guys. I've been thinking a lot about this blog and the more I feel like I have to write on it, the more uninspired I feel to write. Especially since I feel that I'm not the greatest writer. I never want any of my posts to ever seem forced, I just think you guys deserve better than that. You deserve the best I can give ya! So from now on I only want to post when I feel inspired to do so.

So today I wanted to share a recent haul from Ulta, I treated myself to a few goodies because I had a gift card from Christmas and I also got my hands on a friends and family 20% off coupon, which was awesome. I've had my eye on a few of these items for a while so I was excited to be able to finally get them!

-Benefit They're Real! Mascara- I LOVE this mascara. I'm sure you can tell since it's the only mascara I've used in my tutorials so far. That says a lot because I am so incredibly picky when it comes to mascara for my long lashes. This stuff is great! It's not clumpy, it makes my lashes look so full and even longer than they already are. My last little sample tube is starting to dry up a bit so I needed to get a back up ASAP.
-NYX Wonder Pencil- This is a neat little product that caught my attention when I found out about it. It says that it's a "Concealer, Eye Brightener, Reverse Lip Liner in One". I got the color "light". It's creamy, a good consistency to work with. This is good to use in the inner corners of your eyes and under the brow to help brighten the eyes up. You can also use this to conceal blemishes, and also draw in your wrinkles to help soften the appearance of them. Thankfully I don't have any of those yet lol. I plan on using this stuff as a reverse lip liner when I wear bold lip colors. You want to apply your lip color first, then line outside the lips with this stuff and blend slightly outward. It will really help make the lip color pop.
-Nailtiques Non-Acetone Nail Polish Remover- I've been using pure acetone to remove my nail polish for a while which can be very drying, and since winter is here that just makes the dryness 100 times worse. I wanted to find a good non-acetone remover because of this, and this formula contains aloe vera and other conditioners. I used this stuff yesterday and it's really great, it didn't severely dry out the skin around my nails and cuticles. I'm not sure if I'd repurchase another bottle since it is a bit pricey for nail polish remover and I paint my nails often. We shall see after I finish this bottle if I absolutely can't live without it. But it is good stuff.
-Lorac Behind The Scenes Eye Primer- I've been wanting to try a different eye primer since I've only ever used Urban Decay Primer Potion. I like UDPP(I've used it for several years) but I've been wanting to change it up and Tiffany D(MakeupByTiffanyD on Youtube) recently reviewed it and said she thought it was better than UDPP and 9 times out of 10 when I purchase something she recommends I'm very satisfied. I've only used this primer once so far but it was good! My eyeshadow held up well on my oily lids, no complaints. I can't form much more of an opinion on this until I use it a few more times but if you're interested in trying it, get it! It's a dollar more than UDPP but you get more product. So that's definitely another great thing about this product.
-Batiste Dry Shampoo- I decided on the "wild" scent mainly because the bottle is cute lol. I love leopard print! This stuff has good reviews on it so I wanted to try it since I'm on the lookout for a HG dry shampoo. I haven't used this yet, but I'll let you guys know via Twitter what I think of it after I use it, so make sure you're following me there! Follow me here.
-Real Techniques Setting Brush- Finally got around to buying a Real Techniques brush! I've only heard great things about these brushes so I'm excited to use this guy next time I use powder highlighter or if I have to set my under eye concealer. I think I want to try this out for contouring as well. It's really soft but a bit dense. If I really love it I'll definitely try out their other brushes!
-IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream- Oh I've saved the best for last! YOU GUYS. This stuff is AMAZING. I've been using this for about a week now. Yet another recommendation by Tiffany D, I'm so glad I decided to purchase this stuff. It's basically a moisturizer, sunscreen, and color correcter in one. My skin is far from perfect, I've got a lot of redness on my cheeks and this stuff covers most of it. I use the "light" shade and it matches my skin tone nicely. I LOVE THIS STUFF. It is so lightweight but the coverage it gives is incredible! It's also full of great ingredients and is a broad spectrum SPF 50. 50! Isn't that awesome?! I'm really happy with this stuff, especially because I am pretty picky when it comes to skincare. I don't like wearing foundation on a regular basis, so this product is really great for me. I highly recommend it!

That's it! I hope you enjoyed my first beauty haul! I'm really excited about all these goodies, I'm pretty satisfied with the quality of everything. I don't get to do beauty hauls too often so I'm definitely going to look forward to the next time I get to share one.

Thank you so so much for reading and for all of your support. I love you guys!

xo, Michelle

Winter Blues Makeup Tutorial

First post of the new year! Hello my angels! How are you guys feeling? 2014 is going to be one of the best years of my life, I can feel it! I'm super excited for what's to come. What's to come? Who knows but I'm ready for it!

Today's post is a makeup tutorial, I was feeling inspired by the snow storm that hit us here in the northeast 2 nights ago. I really wanted to do this tutorial yesterday but I was frozen and  kinda red from shoveling the never ending snow that was in our big-ish driveway. Took forever to get warm again lol.

Our driveway covered! This isn't even the whole driveway. Me and my mom busted our butts shoveling yesterday haha. It was a great workout!

Lots and lots of snooooow!!!

Let's get to the tutorial!

List of products used:
-Fluffy Blending Brush(here's an alternate)
-Sigma E30 Pencil Brush
-Sigma E55 Shading Brush
-Thin Angled Brush(here's an alternate)
-Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Naked(mine is from the original Naked Palette)
-MAC Eyeshadow in White Frost
-MAC Eyeshadow in Moon's Reflection
-MAC Eyeshadow in Deep Truth
-MAC Eyeshadow in Electra
-L'Oreal Lineur Intense Carbon Black Liquid Liner
-Benefit They're Real Mascara
-NARS Laguna Bronzer
-OCC Lip Tar in Zhora

First with a fluffy blending brush, apply Naked eyeshadow on the crease, blending upward toward the brow bone. Doing is will warm up the look a little bit, it wont look so...1980's lol. Blue eyeshadow can be tricky sometimes!

Now using White Frost eyeshadow and a pencil brush, apply to the inner corner of the eye and just under the brows.

With a shading brush, use Moon's Reflection eyeshadow and apply it to just the middle of the eye lid.

Using the same pencil brush as before, apply Deep Truth eyeshadow to the inner third of the lid, as well as the outer third of the lid. Then using whatever shadow is left on the pencil brush, apply it to the crease. Now blend that well with the fluffy blending brush. If you find after blending that you lose some intensity of the light blue Moon's Reflection eyeshadow, just pack some more on!

Apply Electra eyeshadow to the lower lash line with a thin angled brush, then with the same brush apply Deep Truth eyeshadow to the outer half of the lower lash line.

Line the upper lash line with L'Oreal Lineur Intense Carbon Black liquid liner, then apply black mascara!

Use a bronzer to warm up the rest of the face since blue eyeshadow can be a bit much, especially if you're pale like me!

I used OCC lip tar in Zhora on my lips, it is a beautiful metallic peachy color with a bit of rose shimmer. You can use whatever peach or nude lipstick or lip gloss you like.

Here's the finished look!

What do you think? Please leave me feedback/suggestions in the comments below!

I hope you all are staying warm if you're snowed in, and if you're not snowed in then I'm coming over! It's freezing over here!

I love you guys, thank you for taking time out of your day to read this. Have a fantastic weekend! <3
